Sunday 27th August

On Sunday 27th August we are delighted to announce a Spitfire and Hurricane from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will stage a Fly Past over the Leicestershire Showground.

Commanded by Squadron Leader Andy Millikin, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is flown by regular RAF crew. The Spitfire and Hurricane Mk2C form part of the RAF’s priceless collection kept in full airworthiness. Other aircraft include the only flying Lancaster Bomber, a C47 Dakota and two Chipmunk aircraft (primarily used for training).

These aircraft can be regularly seen in the skies over the UK celebrating and commemorating public and military events from State occasions such as Trooping the Colour to major air displays and fly pasts for public events.

The motto of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is “Lest we Forget”. A reminder of all those who have fallen in the service of this country, to promote the modern day Air Force and to inspire the future generations.
